2002 Chevy Astro Van automatic locking system?

I have a astro van that when I bought it, the locking system worked perfect. I would use my remote to lock and unlock the van. The remote was washed accidently in the washer and it hasn't worked right. I have to manually lock my doors. Also when I lock my doors, the lock doesn't go all the way down. I have to pushed them down myself. Any ideas
