Can I decorate with different shades of wood?

I'm in the process of starting to decorate my apartment living room. I really like these bookshelves (2 of them for symmetry) a href="http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_pgc_r_12_2_1038614/601-1326009-3151334?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000BK4LI6." rel="nofollow"http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref…/a And i like this console table thing a href="http://www.westelm.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?partNumber=WE-PRODp015&storeId=17001&langId=-1&catalogId=17002&viewSetCode=E&parentId=WE-SH1FRNCON&retainNav=true&cmsrc=WE-SH1FRNCON." rel="nofollow"http://www.westelm.com/online/store/Prod…/a But they are different types of wood! Is this okay when decorating? Would it look okay and add depth or should i stick with one shade of wood?
